DUBUQUE LIGHT HORSE GUARDS
DUBUQUE LIGHT HORSE GUARDS. According to Oldt's The History of Dubuque County (p. 254), the Dubuque Light Horse Guard was present in Dubuque by January, 1861. On February 26, 1861 twenty sets of sabers and Colt pistols arrived for their use. The Guards and the GOVERNOR'S GREYS paraded in celebration of Washington's birthday with a "grand ball" held at the DUBUQUE CITY HALL.
