In 2018 officials of the St. Vincent de Paul Voucher Center and the Food Pantry announced a new program for the 1351 Iowa Street facility. Formerly St. Vincent would give clients a bag of pre-selected canned goods and other non-perishable goods. The organization then gave vouchers to the clients to purchase items at nearby grocery stores. Analyzing the results, however, led to the realization that what was purchased was often not nutritious. To remedy the situation, a large cooler was obtained to provide the items needing refrigeration.
