DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION. Established in 1995, the Downtown Neighborhood Association had as an immediate goal the elimination of rodents in alleys and litter. The objective remained to improve the quality of life for residents, businesses, property owners, and visitors. The Association's boundaries reach from 9th to 17th STREETS including Iowa, Main, Locust and Bluff.
The Association works closely with many city government departments including ST. MARK COMMUNITY CENTER, MULTICULTURAL FAMILY CENTER, Housing Department, the Catholic Worker Hope House and The Four Oaks Center.
Members have participated in the annual Downtown Spring Clean-Up, City Expo, National Night Out project, and the Music in Jackson Park free concerts. In 2012 members initiated the "Love Your Neighborhood" project in which neighbors raked neglected yards, trimmed bushes, and planted flowers. In 2014 signage was planned for JACKSON PARK.
