DOLAN, Denise Marie

DOLAN, Denise Marie. (Nashville, TN, Jan. 22, 1954-- ). In 1987 the position of county auditor became vacant after the resignation of Michael MCFARLAND. Active in the Democratic Party, Dolan sought the appointment which she obtained and was sworn in on October 18, 1987. (1) She was reelected in succeeding years.

A graduate of CLARKE COLLEGE with degrees in communications and accounting, she served as the public information officer for the Iowa State Senate from January 1977 to July 1977; office manager of the Iowa Democratic Party from August 1977 to December 1979 and secretary of the Iowa State Senate from January 1979 to April 1979. She was an employee of the John Deere Component Works in Waterloo from 1979 to 1984 and an accountant at CYCARE SYSTEMS, INC. prior to becoming the auditor. (2)

Dolan was vice-chair of the Iowa Democratic Party from 1989 to 1993, a member of the DUPACO COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION board of directors beginning in 1993 and second vice president and first vice president of the Iowa State Association of County Auditors.
