On May 17, 2012 it was announced that Boyd Gaming Corporation, a Las Vegas gambling company, was buying Peninsula Gaming LLC, which owned the Diamond Jo Casino in addition to other properties in Iowa, Louisiana, and Kansas, for $1.45 billion.
By December 9, 2013 the Mississippi Moon Bar had hosted 700 shows and sold 165,000 tickets, gamblers had hit 24,800 jackpots worth an estimated $53 million and bowlers had played over 1 million games--125 of them perfect. In five years the Diamond Jo had welcomed 5.7 million visitors. (1)
