DAYKIN, Metcalf. (Dubuque County, IA, Mar. 20, 1848--Dubuque, IA, July 22, 1922). Except for a nine years residence in Wisconsin, from 1851 to 1860, Daykin was a constant residence of Dubuque County. He was the postmaster of CENTER GROVE and, in partnership with his brother John T. Daykin, served as the proprietor of the THREE MILE HOUSE. The same partnership was also engaged in MINING by owning some fifteen acres of mining lots in the vicinity.
