DANCING WITH THE STARS-DUBUQUE STYLE. Dancing with the Stars--Dubuque Style was first held on May 22, 2010 at the Grand River Center. The first event raised $16,002 for local charities chosen by the contestants. Connie Hodge and her dance instructor, Bob Ripley, earned the title of champion with a score of 96.67. They represented RUN4TROOPS. Mayor Roy D. BUOL and his instructor Jennifer Mulcahey received second place with a score of 78.05. They represented ST. MARK COMMUNITY CENTER. Third place went to Cori Burbach and instructor Adam Kiefer with a score of 76.80. They were representing DuRide. (1)

In 2015 the charity fundraiser announced its sixth season and raised $230,000. (2) The project involved ten local people who solicited funds for their charity through donations. Each donated dollar equaled one vote. The local dancers were paired with professional dance instructors from the area and rehearsed as often as they were willing. (3)

Since the first event, more than $750,000 was raised for forty local charities, according to the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, the host of the project. (4)
