COOLEY, Helen. (Dubuque, IA, July 12, 1894 - Feb. 4, 1952) The daughter of D. N. COOLEY and Clara Aldrich COOLEY, Helen was an alumna of Vassar College. During WORLD WAR I, she served as State Chairman of Registration Committee for the Woman’s Committee, Council of National Defense, Illinois Division. Helen was also a member of the Illinois Immigrants’ Commission and Board of Directors of the Illinois Immigrants’ Protective League. She worked for the promotion of girls’ education.
She enjoyed writing poetry. Some of her poems were published in the Connecticut Quarterly and Chicago International. An essay Helen wrote was published in The Catholic World.
