A graduate of DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL after studying medicine at La Faculté Libré de Medecine in Lille, France, received his degree from New York Medical College and completed his residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Dr. Colbert received a degree in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Acne and Wound Healing from Boston University. He has served as a consultant for Chanel of Paris, has published many articles and has served on the teaching staff of several leading New York City hospitals. He was the group founder and head physician of the New York Dermatology Group. Dr. Colbert's patients include many New York artists and intellectuals, including actors, architects, designers, media people, dancers, journalists and writers. The doctor’s artistic sense is important in a practice that includes advanced cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic surgery. He has been a frequent consultant in Hollywood. (2)
He has been the dermatologist of choice for models involved in Victoria's Secret fashion programs. His three-step Triad treatment includes full body microdermabrasion, laser toning and exfoliation. The treatment ends with a full-body application of Illumino face and body oil to give the skin sheen. He was the author of The High School Reunion Diet. (3) He also offers a variety of skin care products on line. (4)
Shortly after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, teams of doctors volunteered to help and made their way to Haiti with supplies and equipment for field hospitals. Dr. Colbert, a NYC-based dermatologist and internist, had experience as an emergency room physician with advanced wound care expertise. Speaking fluent French and enough words in Creole to make an enormous difference to the frightened patients, he assisted in several emergency amputations. (5)
Back in New York, Mick Jagger, L’Wren Scott, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts were among the celebrities who contributed generously to Dr. Colbert’s efforts to raise funds and awareness for Haitians who lost limbs in he January 2010 earthquake. They all appeared to help host a benefit for Hanger, Inc., the largest designer and distributor of prosthetics in the world. The money raised helped Hanger continue to bring replacement limbs and crucial medical care to the more than 5,000 Haitians who lost arms and legs in the earthquake. (6)
