CITIZENS' RAILROAD COMMITTEE
From Encyclopedia Dubuque
CITIZENS' RAILROAD COMMITTEE. Organized in October, 1879, the committee's membership was prominent members of commercial and financial institutions in the city. It was designed by its founders to promote the building of railroads that might increase the trade and prosperity of the city, particularly the line projected from Milwaukee to Dubuque; also to watch the interests of the city in connection with roads in the West and Northwest.
