CHIEF RED HAND

CHIEF RED HAND. Dubuque's Johnny Appleseed. An anonymous local resident, "Chief Redhand" took his name from a childhood willingness to butcher animals hunted by friends. As an adult, this Dubuque naturalist raised a large garden near his home and had as his life's goal and principal source of enjoyment planting native wildflowers on land owned by other people.
