BAUMGARTNER SALES SERVICE. Managed in 1930 by H. C. Baumgartner, the company selling building supplies opened in the Federal Building in 1912. It was organized as the Baumgartner Sales Company in 1922 representing the Detroit Steel Products Company, then the largest manufacturer of steel sash in the world and the Kinnear Manufacturing Company of Cleveland, manufacturers of rolling steel doors and shutters. In 1944 the company won the contract to caulk the windows and door frames at LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. (2)
By 1948 the company had become Conlins Manufacturer's Representatives. (3)
The 1939 Dubuque City Directory and 1942 Dubuque Classified Business Directory listed 973 Main.
