BAHL, Andrew. (Alsace, France, Nov. 30, 1833--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 9, 1906). In 1845 Bahl and his parents came to Dubuque County. In 1850, he traveled to California remaining there until 1853 when he returned to Dubuque County. He owned 320 acres of land in Iowa.
Bahl was elected a member of the Iowa Legislature in 1865 and served two years. He served six years as a member of the Board of Supervisors; eleven years as Assessor; and nine years as Township Clerk. He also held the offices of Township Treasurer, Justice of the Peace, and Constable. Bahl was a school director for twenty-three years and Treasurer of the School Board. He married Mary Engler July 14, 1856; they had ten children.
