AMERICANA BAND. Formed around 2008 by David Overby ([UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE]] band director, 2000-2004), the band performed around Salvation Army kettles at Christmas or at parades and festivals.

The group continued to grow and eventually focused on ragtime music using just brass instruments which were common to Dubuque when fraternal and religious organizations had their own musical groups around the beginning of the twentieth century.
