A. CHRISTMAN. This dry goods business was operated by J. A. Christman until 1880 when Augustus Christman took over its operation.

The company occupied a four-story 25X120 building. With eleven clerks and assistants, the business carried a large stock of carpets, silks, white goods, hoisery, and notions. Mr. Christman made semi-annual trips to New York to select the goods.

The 1886-87 through 1890-91 Dubuque City Directory listed 672 Main.
