"KNOW DUBUQUE" CAMPAIGN
"KNOW DUBUQUE" CAMPAIGN. Aimed at the estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people who viewed MOTION PICTURES weekly, the "Know Dubuque" campaign was a product of the Committee of Statistics and Publicity of the DUBUQUE INDUSTRIAL CORPORATION. Announced in 1911, the project began by asking theater operators if they would be willing to show slides presenting facts about Dubuque.
Slides included "The Divorce Rate in Dubuque is Proportionately Smaller Than in Any Other City in the State," "Dubuque is the Eighth Wealthiest City Per Capita in the United States," and "Dubuque Leads All Other Cities of Iowa in the Number of Wage-Earners Employed." Other slides features scenes of the community.
